Yellowstone Summer Music Camp Scholarship Applications

The Crested Butte Music Festival and Western State College in collaboration with Boston Brass are offering a two-day Brass Music Camp. Now in its 14th year, the Crested Butte Music Festival is a six-week summer festival presenting world-class symphony, chamber, bluegrass, opera and jazz in a beatiful setting. The Festival brings in over 100 musicicans from around the world. The 2011 Festival runs from July 3-Aug. 14.
This great camp gives students the opportunity to play in a week long jazz, concert band, or attend drum major training. More information and dates to come soon.
This annual five-day band camp will be conducted by the University of Northern Colorado and their band staff. Students are sponsored by Masonic Lodges and affiliated bodies throughout Colorado. The band will play a concert on the UNC Campus July3rd and march in the Greeley Rocky Mountain Stampede Parade, in Greeley, Colorado, on Monday, July 4th.
In addition to being a part of the Bands of America Summer Symposium, George Parks also takes his famous drum major training on the road. This event is usually hosted by CSU or UNC in June or July. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
Drum Corps International (DCI):
There are a number of performance opportunities for brass, percussion and color guard students participating in a drum corps. Drum Corps is an incredibly valuable and worthwhile experience availble for students ages 14-21. For more information on DCI and joining a drum corps, please visit www.dci.org.
A great opportunity to keep musical skills from getting "rusty" over the summer. Students will get individual and small-group instruction all week. There will also be masterclasses, faculty recitals, honors recital and a final concert.
Designed to be intensive, challenging and inspiring, the UNC Jazz Camp will be led by faculty from the University of Northern Colorado and other special guests. Be a part of student big bands and combos, instrumental master classes, jazz theory and listening classes, nightly faculty group concerts and a special performance by the Colorado Jazz Orchestra.
Rehearse and perform chamber music in a variety of styles, including classical and jazz. Study solo literature from a member of the CSC music faculty. Instruction in accompanying, ear training, composition, music history, and jazz improvisation. Tours to surrounding local attractions. Master classes with individual attention. Movies or other events nightly. Housing and food all included in registration fee.
