There are three different types of debate: LD, PF, and CX. Both PF and CX are team debates where you have one partner, LD is by yourself. Debate is about knowing your topic inside and out, but it is also about intimidation. You have a choice, either be intimidating or intimidated. In debate there is never a certain win, but you can act like there is. Don't come off cocky, but make sure you let people know you know what you are talking about and are prepared to rip their case to shreds.

The easiest way to organize information is with cards. You print off pages that have the info you want so that you have a copy with the website url if you're ever questioned about evidence. Then you highlight the information you think is important. Once you have done this with all your information organize it by category so if different websites are highlighted for similar info (Ex: The highlihted info is about terrorist attacks) put them next to eachother. Next get on word and write down who the source is then type the highlighted info from your page. Fit as many excerpts of highlighted information as you can on one page, but make sure they are about the same thing. This way you have access to the information you want so you can find it easily.

Note From The Author (Justine Roof)

I apologize for the small amount of information, such as the lack of cases, for LD and CX, I am a PF debater and did not have old cases for the other two. However, I did check information with CX and LD debaters prior to posting helpful information, so the info. offered truly is helpful for people in each group.
